Most have been started as a result of seeing a group of red hatters out and about. The sight of a group of ladies of a certain age dressed up in red hats and purple outfits having lunch or tea and just enjoying themselves is a very compelling reason to want to be part of that. It has also provided a wonderful opportunity to meet ladies from all over the world who have a common bond.
